Want to explore one of the most important monuments of the Italian Renaissance? This tour of the Florence Cathedral includes access to the temple, a visit to its panoramic terraces and a climb up to the famous Brunelleschi Dome!

Florence Cathedral Tour + Dome & Terraces

At 2:15 pm, we'll meet up on Via Cavour in Florence and stroll towards Florence Cathedral.

When we get there, you'll be left awestruck by this grand red, white and green-marbled complex. You'll skip the queues and head right inside with your guide so you can start learning all about this building's history and beauty.

Once we're inside, your guide will dive into the Cathedral's history and tell you all about the unusual construction process it underwent during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. Italy's brightest architectural minds spent 150 years designing and building the magnificent façade and Brunelleschi's Dome.

During the tour, you'll head to one of the highlights of the Duomo. This would be The Last Judgement by Vasari and Zucari, a fresco that you'll be able to see if you turn your gaze upwards to the dome's ceiling.

After discussing the story of greed and betrayal behind this piece of artwork, we'll walk up a narrow, open-air corridor that's been closed to the general public for centuries. We'll be led to a secret room that'll be unlocked by a guard, after which we'll find ourselves before a fantastic bird's eye view of the Piazza del Duomo and the surrounding area's terracotta rooftops and rolling Tuscan hills. You'll also be able to see Brunelleschi's Dome from close up and admire its architectural details.

Next, we'll head to the private "Circular Room" where you'll get to see ancient statues that were once on display at the Duomo's façade.

Before we make our way back down to ground level, you'll be able to use your skip-the-line ticket to explore the Duomo's inner edge and get a close-up view of the Last Judgement frescoes. You can also walk up some more stairs to the top of Brunelleschi's Dome to admire spectacular 360-degree views of Florence.
