Free Walking Tour of Florence

  • 376 reviews | 3,218 travellers

Free Walking Tour of Florence

At the indicated time, the tour meets in Piazza dell'Unità Italiana, not far from the emblematic Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. Here, we'll start our free tour of Florence, discovering the essence of the historic center of the Tuscan capital.

First, we'll stop at the Medici Chapels, the burial place of the Medici family, whose fascinating history will be revealed on the tour. Then just around the corner is the San Lorenzo Basilica, one of the main places of worship in the city, which stands in the square of the same name. Ready to explore the colourful stalls of the San Lorenzo Market?

The route then continues towards the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its famous dome by Brunelleschi and the imposing Giotto bell tower. Near the Cathedral, you can also find the Baptistery of San Giovanni, well known for its beautiful exterior. Then it's on to the Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza della Signoria, the beating heart of Florence.

The walking tour then heads to one of the most important cultural landmarks in the city: the Uffizi Gallery. And then we'll visit the Arno, the river crossed at its narrowest point by Ponte Vecchio, one of the symbols of Florence, with a long history behind it dating back to 1218.

The tour then finishes in Piazza Santa Croce, one of the most iconic places in Florence.
