Travel into the heart of Siena on our Pienza & Montepulciano Day Trip + Wine Tasting. You'll visit two villages famous for their charming atmosphere and stop in Torrenieri to attend a wine tasting.
Pienza & Montepulciano Day Trip + Wine Tasting
At 8:30 am, we'll meet at the Villa Constanza bus terminal in the outskirts of Florence. We'll head towards the province of Siena, where we'll visit two of its most enchanting villages.
Our first stop will be at a winery in Torrenieri, belonging to the commune of Montalcino. We'll visit the barrel room and taste some of the most prestigious wines in the region, such as the famous Brunello wine. The tasting will include four glasses of wine, plus a board of sheep's cheese or salami, bread and olive oil.
Once we're back on the bus we'll head to Pienza, Pope Pius II’s hometown, which he transformed into an ideal Renaissance town. This romantic city boasts the perfect combination of harmony and architectural beauty.
You'll have 1 hour 30 minutes to eat lunch and explore Pienza a little more. We recommend admiring the façades of the many buildings along the Corso Rossellino or heading to the 15th century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
Next, we’ll stop at Montepulciano. This medieval and Renaissance city sits on a hill surrounded by century old trees and green valleys. You'll have 2 hours of free time to stroll around its impressive churches, monuments and buildings. You could even try to find the spots used in the filming of the Twilight saga's New Moon.
We'll finish our day trip at 7:30 pm upon our arrival back at the starting point in Florence.
