Piazzale Michelangelo Walking Tour
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Monument to Benvenuto Cellini, located on the famous Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River. From this point in Florence, we'll walk to Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the most famous squares in the capital of Tuscany.
Arriving at the viewpoint of Piazzale Michelangelo, crowned by a bronze replica of Michelangelo's David, we'll enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Florence. We'll see the famous Brunelleschi dome of the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the course of the river Arno and other emblematic points of the city.
We'll take advantage of having climbed up to Piazzale Michelangelo to, from here, go up a little further to the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, a masterpiece of Florentine Romanesque architecture. Next to the church is the cemetery of the Holy Door, where the remains of illustrious Florentines are buried, such as the writer Carlo Collodi, author of the adventures of Pinocchio.
Finally, after two hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the tour at the viewpoint of Piazzale Michelangelo.
